Crescent Foods originated as a small burrito business at mountain bike races in Vermont during the mid ‘90's. Inspired by a lack of healthy, wholesome food at races, Donald Remaniak would break out a Coleman stove and grill in the back of his VW bus and whip up a perfect mix of healthy ingredients topped with his special homemade salsa to satisfy the ravenous appetites of fellow cyclists. Thus, the Benevolent Burrito was born.
Donald and sons took to the road in a 1978 Volkswagen Bus (later dubbed “The Burrito Bus”). The Benevolent Burrito quickly became a favorite at New England bike races. Soon, the menu grew to include home-baked “chain-ring” cookies, red beans and rice, seitan stir-fry, and local Mad River sodas.
The Benevolent Burrito made its debut in the music festival scene at Phish festivals such as The Great Went and Lemonwheel. Since then, Crescent Foods has grown into a thriving food concession business. The menu now includes breakfast items, wraps, quesadillas, organic specialty teas, and gluten-free and vegan options.
Crescent Foods’ brightly colored booths are now a common site at summer music festivals across the United States. Sought out by many for our healthy and wholesome options, our menu stays true to its origins, providing delicious meals with fresh ingredients at all hours, rain or shine.
